Blush - How I learnt the word????

I would like to share an incident which explained me the word "blush".

When I was doing my schooling, we had for the first time ROMEO AND JULIET in our English subject. During the class she happened to tell me that Juliet blushed at Romeo standing near the window sill. I was hearing the term BLUSH for the first time in my life. And immediately I asked her the meaning.

One more highlight was that I was in a Girls convent where I never had any chance even to speak with any guy.

And she started explaining to me," Sreela, just imagine you are sitting in the class listening to the romantic story of Romeo and Juliet. Suddenly a boy happens to come inside without my permission and it happens to be the one you love and he holds your hand and gives you a kiss. What will you feel?"

I was almost embarassed by the way she expalined to me and was almost in tears. All my friends started to laugh at me. And I was only 10 years then. I could not stand there among all and I just hung my head and sat thanking her. She came near me and told " This is called blushing, understood?" I looked at her. I was not blushing. I was so embarassed that tears started flowing out.

Then I started believing that BLUSH means EMBARASSMENT and IRRITATION caused by a guy.

Even today after knowing the real meaning of the term BLUSH, when I come across it I feel the same irritation.

But the fact is BLUSH is actually a very sweet word..............
